Osrednje sporočilo slike je, da je svet v svojem bistvu dobro zaigrana predstava, ki od posameznika zahteva žrtvovanje pristnosti lastne duše, da bi lahko v njej sodeloval. To delo nadaljuje pripoved prve slike z naslovom Skušnjave, ki prikazuje moškega, ki ga demoni zavajajo, da si nadene masko in vstopi v uprizorjen, hinavski svet norcev.

The central message of the painting is that the world is essentially a well-orchestrated performance—one that demands the sacrifice of one’s soul’s authenticity to partake in it. This piece continues the narrative of the first painting, titled Temptations, which depicts a man tempted by demons offering him the chance to wear a mask and enter the staged, hypocritical world of fools.
