Don’t stay in the show (2024)

Oil on canvas, 80×60 cm

This painting is the third of the triptych called The world of masked fools, and it depicts the final judgment. Some have chosen to remain in the “show”—a fabricated, corrupt, and deceitful world. Their souls, along with their bodies, are cast into hell, driven there by grotesque demons, which, in reality, symbolize human wickedness and depravity. Much like in the central painting titled The world of masked fools, the masks here symbolize those who play and orchestrate the insane “show” on Earth, from where they are ultimately banished to hell. Those who have repented and turned their lives around are saved—angels take them to heaven. The false world has come to an end, and Death gleefully points to an outdated clock, as time eventually runs out for all.
