The Eden garden – left panel (2023)
Oil on wooden panel, 170 x 90 cm
The left or initial panel of the triptych titled “Truths or Delusions” bears the title “The Garden of Eden” or “Lost Innocence.” This painting depicts a poignant moment when Adam and Eve are expelled from the Garden of Eden after succumbing to temptation. The picture shows the moment when Adam first feels desire for Eve, as they both become aware of their nudity and feel ashamed. The inscription carried by two angels, “Media vita in morte sumus,” translates to “In the midst of life, we are in death,” speaking to the paradoxical nature of our existence.
